Gifford appoints new CEO

Consultant Gifford has appointed Steve Canadine as chief executive officer to succeed Mark Stevenson with effect from 1 October 2010.

Mr Canadine, 41, joined Gifford in 1996 and is currently main board director responsible for leading the Property market sector.

He has led sections of the Building Structures, Development and Environment teams and has worked on a wide range of projects.

Mr Canadine succeeds Mark Stevenson who was appointed on a three year contract in 2006, which was subsequently extended.

Having achieved significant growth for the business in his first three years, Mr Stevenson was responsible for guiding Gifford through the challenges presented by the recession. He has decided that the time is now right to step aside from his CEO responsibilities to enable his successor to prepare the business for an early recovery from the economic downturn.

Gifford chairman Gordon Clark said: “Mark will be a hard act to follow, but I have every confidence that Steve Canadine is a worthy successor. He has the drive, enthusiasm and experience of the business to take us forward strongly through the challenges that lie ahead. We are now a lean business with strong ambitions and a wealth of experience. Steve’s energised leadership will enable us to build our future growth in existing and new markets.”
