GLA guidance: key requirements


Low-risk sites Up to 1,000 sq m. 1-10 properties

All loads to be covered n Plant to use ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD) where available

Cutting equipment to use water suppressant or local exhaust ventilation

Idling vehicles not recommended Medium-risk sites 1,000-15,000 sq m. 10-150 properties All the above plus:

Identify responsible person in charge

Idling vehicles not allowed

Hard surfacing and effective cleaning of haul roads

Wrapping of buildings to be demolished High-risk sites Over 15,000 sq m. Over 150 properties, significant impact on sensitive areas, 'major development' referred to mayor All the above plus:

All site personnel to be fully trained

Responsible manager on site during working time to inspect and maintain log books

Vehicles cleaned and wheel-washed before leaving site

Plant to use ULSD and have appropriate exhaust after-treatment (filters)

Use of enclosed chutes and covered skips for waste

Cover, seed, or fence stockpiles
