Glasgow City Council’s arms-length building services company is looking to appoint a contractor to supply up to £100 million of building materials.
Glasgow City Building, a private firm spun out of the council’s former building services department, this morning issued a tender in the Official Journal of the European Union.
It calls for expressions of interest from contractors for a number of lots which it says will total between £20m and £100m.
GCB tender manager Eleanor Richardson told Construction News: “We have a number of contracts in place for building and maintenance, and are hoping to win more in the next few months.”
The tender document includes materials including glazing, timber, solar energy, heating materials, roofing materials, household goods, roof materials, workwear, as well as asbestos removal products.
The contract would be for an initial two years with an option to extend for a further two years.
GCB has contracts with public bodies including the council, Glasgow Regeneration Agency and the organising company for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, which is being held in the city.
