Glasgow HBG closes in on hotel

HBG is being tipped to pick up a £30 million deal to build a four-star hotel and office block in Glasgow.

The firm is understood to have ousted Balfour Beatty, Laing and Sir Robert McAlpine to the design- and-build contract for client, SAS Radisson.

Work on the 250-room hotel next to Glasgow Central Station is earmarked to start on site in June and is expected to take about 20 months.

The scheme features a health club, 130-space car park, bar, restaurant, conference facilities and a banqueting suite.

HBG is also waiting to discover if the firm has clinched a deal to build a 10,000 sq m office block near the SAS Radisson hotel for developer Marylebone Warwick Balfour (MWB).

MWB is understood to want to find a tenant for the offices before the scheme is given the final go-ahead.
