GMI Property to develop £10m site

GMI Property is to develop a new £10 million retail and hotel site in Huddersfield.

The Spindlegate scheme will see a new 62-bed Travelodge hotel built on the former site of chemical company James Robinson.

There will be a retail unit below the hotel, with planners also giving the green light for a drive-thru Costa Coffee outlet with 28 car parking spaces.

GMI Construction Group will be responsible for the design and construction work on the five and a quarter acre scheme.

Last year GMI Property built public house The Yorkshire Rose on the site for Marston’s.

The new hotel will offer 62 parking spaces and a total floor space of 2,200 sq m.

A total of 10 parking spaces will also be on offer at the 200 sq m ground-floor retail unit.

The scheme is set for completion in October.
