Go-ahead for Vauxhall student scheme

CLS Holdings has secured planning permission for a 20,763 sq m hotel and student flats at Vauxhall, south London, and is progressing an application to build a further 154,000 sq m in two residential towers at nearby Vauxhall Square.

It sees the area, just across the Thames from central London, as a focus for growth.

Spring Mews will include 399 student accommodation rooms and amenity space, a 120-bed hotel, community centre, café and office and retail space. Building is expected to start later this year.

CLS hopes to gain vacant possession of Vauxhall Square by December 2014.

Executive chairman Sten Mortstedt said: “Gaining planning consent at Spring Mews is an important achievement for our plans in Vauxhall, an area of London which we expect will see significant regeneration and growth in the next few years.”
