Govt lobby on asbestos

ANGRY leaders of the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association will hold talks with parliamentary undersecretary Lord Hunt to protest against a planned relaxation of asbestos laws that would allow unlicensed contractors to carry out removal work.

Association chief executive Terry Jago said: 'This will be an opportunity for our members to lobby the Government on proposed changes to the law, in particular the relaxation of the rules on textured coatings containing asbestos.' The meeting is scheduled for November 30.
