GreenMac bids to end confusion

McNICHOLAS Construction is thinking of changing one of the most famous names in the industry.

The company discussed the possible move at its latest board meeting and may call in consultants to think of new names.

Some bosses at the firm, which is based in Elstree, Hertfordshire, think a rebranding would stop the company being confused with McNicholas Plc.

But leading members of the McNicholas family that still runs the firm are known to be keen to keep the name.

A source close to the firm said: 'The idea of a name change is definitely being discussed.

'The family is keen to keep the name but other factions in the firm want a change to distance themselves from the other McNicholas.

'The name is also too closely associated in the public's eyes with road digging when McNicholas now works on a whole range of contracts.'
