HA Area 9 contract up for grabs

The Highways Agency's Area 9 Contract is currently out to tender valued at £560 million over five years.

Bidders include InterRoute (Balfour Beatty/Birse), Interserve/Atkins, A1 Plus (Costain/Colas/Halcrow), AccordMP/Mouchel and Amey.

Tenders are to be returned 14th July 2008. Work is due to start in early 2009.

The Area 9 Managing Agent Contract includes trunk roads and motorways in the counties of Hertfordshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Derbyshire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Leicestershire and Shropshire and the Metropolitan Boroughs of Walsall, Sandwell and Dudley and the City of Birmingham.

This will include the M5 (junction 15 to M1), M54, M42 (junction 11 to M5), M50, A45, A465, A483, A458 and A40.
