Hammerson recruits new CFO from Great Portland Estates

Hammerson has recruited a new chief financial officer from rival Great Portland Estates.

Current GPE financial director Timon Drakesmith will replace Simon Mellis, who retires in June.

Mr Drakesmith has been in charge of GPE’s finances since joining the firm in 2005, preceded by two years at the electrical accessories arm of Novar and 13 years in investment banking.

GPE is looking for a replacement for Mr Drakesmith who will leave at the end of May.

Hammerson chief executive David Atkins said: “Simon has made a tremendous contribution to Hammerson over a 20 year period. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with him, and valued his support since becoming chief executive in 2009.

“I am delighted that Timon Drakesmith is to become our new CFO. He is a successor with proven capability and sector expertise, as well as significant wider industry and corporate finance experience.”
