HBG plays leading role

CONTRACTS SHEFFIELD

HBG has taken centre stage on a £13 million redevelopment of Sheffield's City Hall.

Laing O'Rourke, AWG and Gleeson were upstaged in the bid to revamp the 71-year old concert venue for developer Sheffield International Venues and the City Trust.

HBG will work on the hall's three performance areas - the Oval Hall, the Memorial Hall and the Ballroom.

The team will provide cleaning, improved lighting and restoration of timber panels.City Hall will also receive a new central stairway, disabled access, a new-look balcony and bar and refurbished kitchen.

HBG will start work on the Grade II listed building early next month with construction expected to last 14 months.
