Health and safety clothing shake-up

Health and safety clothing is under government scrutiny after a study revealed substandard clothing.

A study by the Reflective Manufacturers Association found some clothing offered as little as 1pc of the reflection required under European Standard

The association said substandard reflective clothing is on sale in high street stores.

Following the study, the Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform has promised to fund an investigation and bring the problem to the attention of local Trading Standards Authorities.
