Equipment hirer Hewden has achieved a new health and safety milestone, notching two million work hours without a reportable lost time incident.

The Glasgow-based group, which has 102 depots nationwide and more than 2000 staff, has not had a reportable lost time incident since late last year.

A spokesman said staff had now also worked a cumulative seven million hours without a lost time incident cause by a motor-vehicle accident.

Hewden safety head Tom Corrigan said the achievement “shows that our efforts to ensure health and safety permeates throughout the entire company have paid off”.
