Hightex to create canopy for Heathrow

Hightex Group has won a contract £1 million contract to provide a new ETFE canopy for the entrance of Heathrow Terminal 4.

The canopy will be 190m long and extend 12m from the facade and will consist of some 2,300 sq m of two layer translucent ETFE pneumatic cushions.

In the event of a nearby explosion the EFTE cushions will simply deflate and there will be no risk of flying glass or other dangerous materials as found in traditional canopy designs.

Hightex is also about to started work on the final phase of the contract at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Wimbledon, to install the new retractable roof over the Centre Court.
