Highways Agency appoints major projects director

Nirmal Kotecha has been appointed as the major projects director for the Highways Agency.

Mr Kotecha will be responsible for delivering all national infrastructure improvements and renewals as well as developing new projects for future delivery.

He will also have responsibility for ensuring the strategic road network continues to perform during construction phases and that all major projects achieve value for money.

Mr Kotecha is currently alliance director and head of supply chain management at Anglian Water Services and a non-executive director of Achilles Group Limited.

He will start at the Higways Agency on 14 April.

Highways Agency chief executive Archie Robertson said: "He will provide leadership and direction of staff in the major project teams, and to our supply chain of contractors, designers and engineers, on which we rely for successful delivery of our major construction projects.

"Our current programme of major schemes remains strategically important. We are well on target for delivering 23 major improvement schemes between April 2005 and the end of March 2008.”
