Highways Agency has not cut back

LETTERS

Sir, Jim Turner of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association claims unreasonably that morale is at a low ebb following Government decisions to shelve major road schemes (News, August 4).

We are looking again at the A303 Stonehenge scheme in the light of cost increases and complications over ground conditions. But our funding hasn't changed since the last review and we are spending more over the next three years than we did over the last three.

Hardly a basis on which to justify such a negative story.
