HISTORY MAKERS: Halcrow has bought the original plans for the Forth Rail Bridge in Edinburgh.The drawings, used by engineer Patrick Meik, were acquired at auction.

Halcrow was founded by Patrick's father, Thomas, in 1868. Pictured going over the plans are director for Scotland George Pettigrew (left) and head of the Edinburgh office Ron Beard.
