Hitachi throws its full weight behind distribution in Europe

HITACHI is to use the Intermat show to unveil a full range of equipment for Europe. The company is to show 25 new models as it gears up for its first year of distributing in the region.

Among the launches is a range of excavators featuring a user-friendly single mode of operation, which is expected to be popular in the hire market.

Marketing manager Marc Timmerman said.

'The machine still uses several power modes but the operator does not have to think about what to select; the machine thinks for itself and the optimum mode is selected for him.'

The wide range of kit being introduced by Hitachi means distributors such as UK dealer HM Plant will be able to offer tracked access platforms and cranes as well as the core machinery.

But if any dealer chooses not to stock the noncore items, Hitachi will provide them directly from the European centre, Mr Timmerman said.

The new Hitachi factory in Amsterdam is now up and running with its first production line, the 21-tonne 210 range.
