Hodge to spread Olympic best practice message

CONSTRUCTION minister Margaret Hodge will hold talks with the Office of Government Commerce over how to instil Olympic best practice across all public sector contracts.

Ms Hodge made the commitment at a meeting with the construction umbrella bodies last week.

Industry representatives are calling for blanket adoption of the proposals in the Construction Commitments 2012 document launched in July. This calls for fair payment practices, project bank accounts and integrated teams on Olympic construction projects.

One industry source said: 'We want to see these commitments underpinning all public construction contracts.'
