House plan seeks experts

A SOUTH London council has asked three bidders to help speed through a £40 million Private Finance Initiative housing scheme.

Newham Borough Council has invited Equion/Pinnacle/ London & Quadrant HA, Rydon/Kingsmead Homes and a consortium featuring Swan Housing Group and project manager Kennedy Hayward to give their views on how best to survey the condition of 1,241 homes due to be overhauled in Forest Gate.

The council has already carried out an audit of the external condition of the properties.

Tenders will be sent out in May to be returned in August.

Two of the firms will be selected for a final round of bidding in November. The contract will be awarded next May with work set to start in August.
