House price growth falls again

House price growth continued to fall during August as the property market stalled, Government figures showed today.
Annual house price inflation fell to just 2.8 per cent during the month, down from 4 per cent in July and well down on the 13.6 per cent it was running at in August last year, according to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

At the same time the average cost of a property in the UK remained virtually static at £186,208, compared with £186,207 the previous month.
