House prices fall in November for third successive month

UK house prices fell for the third successive month in November, according to the Halifax building society.

Prices droppped by 1.1 per cent in November, the lender said, taking the annual rate of growth down to 6.3 per cent.

It is the first time since 1995 that the Halifax figures have shown house prices falling for three successive months.

Approvals in November were 32 per cent lower than a year earlier, and new buyer interest fell for the eleventh successive month.

But the lender said there was still a long-term supply shortage in the UK.
