HSC looks to push CDM Regs uptake

The Health & Safety Commission’s Construction Industry Advisory Committee might establish a working group to monitor the progress of the revised CDM Regulations.

Construction Industry Council representative Peter Caplehorn said: “There are still national organisations filling out pre-qualification documents using the old regulations.” The rules were introduced in April.

ConstructionSkills head of health and safety Kevin Fear said visits to the CDM website had started to fall in the later months of this year.

Mr Fear said: “We need a new push to remind those that haven’t that it’s still there.”

But the Health & Safety Executive wants a year to go by before looking into the plan. The issue will be discussed at the committee’s summer meeting next June.
