HSE set to shame firms convicted over safety

News

CONTRACTORS that flout site safety laws will be named and shamed in a new government initiative.

The Health and Safety Executive will publish a special annual report next year naming firms and individuals convicted during the previous 12 months. Offenders will also be listed on the HSE's website.

Deputy director-general David Eves said: 'Our inspectors work hard to bring to book those who flagrantly break the law, and we seek publicity for our prosecutions in these cases to deter others from taking unacceptable risks. This initiative should underline the fact that the HSE will do everything in its power to highlight those companies - or individuals - that fail to properly protect their employers and others.'
