HSE swoops

Forty prohibition notices were served in the first two days of a blitz on London construction sites by the Health and Safety Executive this week.

Thirty-one inspectors in three teams checked conditions on sites across the capital. The first targeted north and east London, the second south London and the City, with the third covering Westminster, Kensington, Chelsea, Fulham and Hammersmith.

The scheme was the first in a series of five-day inspections to be carried out by the HSE every month this year.
