In Brief Amec on track

AMEC Spie is this week expected to be named as the winner of a £130 million contract to carry out work in the North-West as part of the £2.2 billion upgrade of the West Coast Main Line railway. The Manchester South project will feature a mix of jobs including track, overhead line equipment and signalling work. Amec Spie has already been awarded an £8 million design- and-development contract on the project. Work is due to start in June 2000 for completion in early 2002.
