Kermi says its new Type 12 Classic super-slim unit offers high heat outputs from a neat enclosure. With a depth of just 63 mm, the Type 12 double-panel compact radiator is only 5 mm deeper than a typical single- panel radiator, while heat output is more than 25 per cent higher.

Joints and hoses

Thermosel Solutions has extended its range of expansion joints and hoses with the addition of WRC-approved silicone hoses, EPDM pipeline noise dampers and a full range of butterfly valves, check valves and Y-strainers. Ready to install

Ideal Boilers' new Vanguard S steel pressure jet boiler is delivered ready for installation with a fully assembled steel heat exchanger as a complete unit. Ideal claims the Vanguard S offers faster heat acceleration, greater efficiency and easier servicing. There are 16 models in the range, extending from 130 kW up to 3,500 kW output. All models have a maximum operating pressure of 5 bar, but 10 bar versions can be supplied to special order.

Simpler controls

Robbens Underfloor Heating has introduced a new, 'user-friendly' analogue control panel to the UK market. The analogue display simplifies programming and delivers efficient, accurate heating performance, says Robbens. The panel is also easy to install, with the majority of connections pre-wired and tested. Only three-core thermostat wiring is needed to connect the thermostat and boiler feed.

Temporary duct

Sto&Go is a new ducting product from US manufacturer Dri-Eaz. The new ducting is intended for temporary installations such as fume extraction or dehumidifying on site. It is made of reinforced PVC and is intended for use with the Vortex axial fan or any other 12-in (305 mm) blower. It has its own integral carrying case to protect the collapsible ducting while in transport.

Quartz Crystal

New from Quartz, the Dorset-based manufacturer, is a range of air-cooled water chillers and reverse-cycle heat pumps. The range, called Crystal 2, is suitable for both air conditioning and process applications, says Quartz. With the exception of the three smallest single-compressor, single- refrigeration circuit models, all Crystal 2 chillers use twin refrigeration circuits and multiple scroll compressors.

Cardale's new Elite range of vertical and horizontal garage doors are tough, durable and resist damage from accidental knocks and scrapes, says the manufacturer. Cement selection

Castle Cement has issued a leaflet, entitled A Guide to Cement, to simplify the task of selecting the right cement for any particular job. The new guide covers the Castle packed cement range and explains the different uses of each of the products. Revised standard

TRADA Technology has published revised guidance for design to the structural standards BS 5268 and Eurocode 5. A complementary publication gives design examples. The revision, based on DETR-sponsored research, has been made in response to evidence that shows existing guidance for joints in structural timber work using a combination of mechanical fasteners, such as nails, bolts and dowels, has proved unsafe in some configurations. SHS welding guide

Two new free publications from British Steel Tubes & Pipes give clear, up to date guidance on the design of structural hollow section (SHS) welded joints. The documents, Design of Welded Joints (TD 393) and Structural Hollow Section Welding (TD 394) also explain welding practice for both fillet and butt welds in hot-finished SHS manufactured to EN 10210. Pipework test kit

Abbirko (UK) has launched a test kit for 'first fix' pipework. The kit enables installers to check for leaks before water is connected and before expensive fittings and fixtures are installed in the property. The test involves pumping air into the pipework to a pressure of 6 bar. Pipework in diameters of 15 mm, 22 mm and 28 mm in both copper and plastic can be tested in this way.

Multiple uses

Curon is the name of a multi-purpose waterproofing membrane now being distributed in the UK by Polyfibre. It is a polymer composite which comes in rolls of varying sizes and it can be used for roofing, tanking, chimney linings, shuttering, cladding and numerous other purposes. Polyfibre says the material is a 'Green Book' preferred material for contact with rainwater. It is non-toxic and can be used in contact with drinking water.

Screening tube

MT Supertube offers the latest method of screening power, data signal and telecommunications cables from elector magnetic interference, says the manufacturer, Marshall- Tufflex. The product is a low smoke, zero halogen conduit/ cable management system featuring a three-layer construction which incorporates a totally enclosed aluminium section. Shower savings

Rodin Group claims that its latest range of showers will quickly pay back the original capital cost through significant water and energy savings. The firm says the new shower creates a shower stream which is both higher in intensity and soft to the skin. The Evolution Glass range of washroom fittings from ABP-TBS Partnership has been developed to create a luxurious, modern feel for changing rooms and washrooms. The range includes a cubicle design with co-ordinated glass vanity unit, wall lining and ducting. ABP-TBS says the design is stylish, hygienic and easy to clean. Actionair, a division of Baxi Air Management, has launched a range of fire dampers with proportional torque control. The Smoke/Shield PTC range complies with the latest Loss Prevention Council design for fire protection of buildings. Developed jointly with control actuator manufacturer Belimo, the dampers are easy to install and meet the low gas-smoke leakage and fire integrity requirement of Classification ES in both vertical and horizontal test installations, says Actionair.
