Insurers increase the risks


Sir, Thank you Christine Barker for your letter on the inf luence of insurance companies on safety (Letters, April 6).

Much current Health and Safety activity is directed not about protecting workers and property but about ring-fencing insurance policies from claims.

The effect of present insurance attitudes is to eliminate safety knowledge through blanket prohibitions, leaving all at greater risk from situations for which they have no prior experience.
