ISG secures £100m student homes deal

Construction services specialist ISG has clinched a preconstruction contract on a £100 million project to build student accomodation in Spitalfields in the City of London.

Work will cover construction of a 33 storey tower which will house around 1,204 students for Nido Student Living.

The development will also include six ground floor shops, a gym and five stories of office space covering a total of 84,480 sq ft.

Piling and foundations are due to start this month with completion expected in late summer 2010.

ISG chief executive David Lawther said: "This scheme, in the growing student accommodation sector, is a classic example of the type of demanding, high profile project that ISG is capable of delivering."
