John Laing team win £237m military contract

A consortium featuring PPP specialist John Laing and Ballast Nedam has reached financial close on a £237 million military accommodation scheme in Holland.

The project will involve building accommodation for 2,000 to 3,000 defence employees at the Komhout Barracks in Utrecht.

Construction at the site is expected to start at the beginning of 2009, with completion scheduled for October 2010.

When completed the site will be the base for the headquarters of the Royal Netherlands Army and several other departments of the country’s Ministry of Defence.
