Kajima bags schoolwork

CONTRACTS LONDON

KAJIMA has scooped an £18 million school building contract for Camden Borough Council under the Private Finance Initiative.

The Japanese contractor saw off bids from Babcock & Brown and Ballast/King Sturge for the deal to build the Haverstock School in Chalk Farm, north London. Work on the two-year scheme begins in the autumn.

The win follows other recent PFI school successes for the firm, including a deal in Ealing worth £32 million and the £33.5 million North Tyneside schools scheme.
