Kelly faces commons grilling on school reforms

Education Secretary Ruth Kelly will face a public grilling over school reform plans today after they were thrown into doubt by John Prescott.
The Deputy Prime Minister ratcheted up pressure on Tony Blair to back down on key aspects of the plans at the weekend by launching an extraordinary public attack.

Ms Kelly will be forced to defend moves to give schools wide-ranging extra freedoms when she appears before the education select committee.
