Kier finds role for Bowcott

FORMER Amec construction boss Steve Bowcott has made a return to the industry in a temporary managerial role with contractor Kier.

Mr Bowcott is heading up Kier Scotland, which has offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh dealing with contracts up to £15 million.

He was sacked as the head of Amec's construction services division in July 2005 after awarding his girlfriend - whom he has since married - a public relations contract worth £250,000.

In May Mr Bowcott took his former company to an employment tribunal claiming unfair dismissal, but walked away with nothing after dropping the claim halfway through.

Kier said: 'We have taken him on in an interim management position pending the appointment of a new managing director for Kier Scotland early in the New Year.'
