Kier preferred bidder for £100m PFI project

Kier has nabbed the preferred bidder slot on a £100 million PFI education deal for Oldham Borough Council, in Greater Manchester.
The project will cover building two new schools to replace the existing Failsworth and Radclyffe secondary schools under a £51 million construction contract.

Kier beat rivals Kajima and Balfour Beatty to win the 25 year deal. Building work is set to start in May 2006 with the schools due to open in autumn 2007.

The project team includes PFI specialist Kier Project Investment, facilities management subsidiary Kier Managed Services and Dexia Public Finance Bank.
