Kier wins largest BSF deal

Kier has taken the largest Building Schools for the Future project so far awarded, having been appointed as preferred bidder for the £477 million Kent County Council BSF project.

The firm was told on Tuesday it had seen off Skanska, its last remaining rival for the deal to revamp the county’s 48 secondary schools. A team featuring John Laing and Laing O’Rourke had been dropped earlier in the competition.

Kier’s Investors in the Community, which also features Land Securities Trillium, the Mill Group and Northgate, will now work towards signing a deal with the council before work starts on the first schools next year.
