Komatsu eyes quarry market with 60-tonner

MARUBENI-KOMATSU has launched a 60-tonne Komatsuexcavator in response to demand for a machine between its 45-tonne and 79-tonne models.

The PC600-6 comes in three configurations - Super Earthmover, Quarry and Long Carriage. A 384 HP engine produces a digging force of 32.4 tonnes at the bucket.

The machines feature three working modes - for general operation, normal digging and heavy work - and its control system incorporates self-diagnostics for 119 different parameters.

The excavator's slew ring housing is weld-free, to eliminate stress forces normally concentrated at the weld points.

A new hydraulic filter system has extended filter replacementintervals to 500 hours and hydraulic oil changes to 5,000 hours.

The 60- to 70-tonne excavator size range has risen in profile in recent months, primarily due toincreased demand from quarry operators.
