Labourer killed by concrete slab

A labourer was crushed to death and another was injured when a concrete slab fell on them at a farm in Gloucester yesterday.
The 53-year-old man was part of a team helping to construct a slurry channel at the farm in Moreton Valence.

A concrete slab being used to construct the channel fell on the two men trapping them underneath.

Workers pulled both men from under the slab but attempts to revive the 53-year old failed and he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The second worker was taken to hospital where he was treated for a suspected broken arm.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police said: 'Police are currently liaising with the Health and Safety Executive and the Gloucestershire coroner had been informed of the death.'
