Lagan/Ferrovial in £250m A1 win

A Lagan/Ferrovial joint venture has won the £250 million job to upgrade the A1 to a dual carriageway between Beech Hill and Cloghogue in Northern Ireland.

Work includes asphalt surfacing, white lining, drainage, landscaping and the erection of safety barriers.

It will also involve A1 junction improvements, single carriageway improvements to the A4/A5 and the operation and maintenance of 120km of motorway and trunk roads for the next 30 years.

Construction is due to begin next month.
