Laing O'Rourke wins Europe's biggest secondary school

Laing O'Rourke has been confirmed as winner of a deal to build the largest secondary school in Europe.
The £38 million city academy in Peterborough, known as the Thomas Deacon Academy, will specialise in maths and science.

The building will cover nearly 8,200 sq m and provide facilities for 2,200 students. Work for the local education authority is due to finish in September 2007.

Designed by Swiss Re architect Foster and Partners, the academy will feature a number of football, cricket and rugby pitches.
