LAUNCHES: Leica GPS move

LEICA Geosystems has introduced a GPS receiver into its GS5 surveying product line, developed jointly with IBM. The receiver, based on IBM's silicon germanium technology, is the first to provide direct sampling of the GPS radio signals without the need for intermediate frequency support circuitry. The basic GS5 provides 3-4 m accuracy, while the GS5+ features error correction for an accuracy of 1-2 m.
