Lawrence has £120m pipeline job

A JOINT venture between Lawrence and Dutch firm Nacap has won a £120 million deal for one of the largest pipeline schemes in the UK.

Insiders said National Grid Transco (NGT) had chosen the duo ahead of opposition from their only remaining rivals, Entrepose and Murphy, who teamed up to bid against them for the 120-km Aberdulais to Milford Haven scheme in south Wales.

One project source said: 'It was a close contest but Entrepose and Murphy heard they had missed out at the end of last week.

'This one really is the jewel in the crown.'

Although NGT has appointed Nacap and Lawrence as preferred bidders, sources said it did not have to finalise the deal until September.

The deal is subject to commercial commitments from terminal builders ExxonMobil and Petroplus.
