LDA makes £9m Olympic funding pledge

The London Development Agency has pledged £9 million to boost employment and job opportunities in east London ahead of London's 2012 Olympics.
Initiatives include specialist construction employment support to help developers, main contractors and sub-contractors to maximise local recruitment and a networking club for local firms bidding for Olympic deals.

The LDA is also planning a job brokerage scheme for local job-seekers and an education campaign in schools.

The organisation is to work out the programme details of the agreement with local authorities in Newham, Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Greenwich and Waltham Forest.
