Leicester gets £1.5m training centre

Students in a deprived area of Leicester are set to benefit from a new £1.5 million skills training centre.

Work will start next week on building the Braunstone centre, which will provide training courses in construction and mechanics.

The scheme, in the grounds of Fullhurst Community College, is being part-funded by the Braunstone Community Association as part of a multi-million pound, Government-funded initiative to boost the area.

Association vice-chairman Gwen Abraham said: “We have had a wonderful team working together to make this a reality - it will be a great facility and another exciting development for Braunstone, giving our young people the hands-on skills that are much needed in Leicester.”

The centre is due to be completed in the autumn.
