Liebherr looks at 12t crawler-loader

LIEBHERR is to launch a 12 tonne crawler loader in the US next year with a view to bringing it to Europe.

The plant giant is testing the appeal of a smaller machine after its launch at Intermat of 20 tonne and 25 tonne fourth generation loaders featuring its own Tier III engines.

According to spokesman Alexander Katrycz the Liebherr engine gives the loaders critical operating advantages.

'It has mechanical fuel injection with only one injection per cycle ? the competition has three to five ? which means less chance of breakdown. It is a true construction engine, robust and simple, heavy and with low vibration. With the LidecElectronic engine management system, fuel consumption on the loaders is the same or even lower than before.' The loaders are also said to have much higher visibility than others in their class thanks to its integrated ROPS, which reduces the number of pillars in the cab.

Liebherr is also launching its own version of the tilt rotator attachment system for excavators, which enables tilting of 50 degrees to either side along with 360 degree rotation.
