Liverpool Trio Hope-ful on £12m campus project

THREE firms are chasing a £12 million deal to build a campus for Liverpool Hope University College.

The bidders set to return bids on December 8 are Cheshire outfit Browns, of Wilmslow; Warrington-based Cruden; and Tarmac.

The scheme comprises relocating the department of fine art and design to the Grade II-listed St Francis Xavier School at Shaw Street, Liverpool.

The work is split into five phases. The first comprises student accommodation and is scheduled to start on site in February 1998. The project, which also includes a 600-seat theatre, must be complete by 1999.
