Livingstone's bid for child friendly developments

Mayor of London Ken Livingstone has introduced guidelines for play area space for children to be included in all upcoming residential developments.

The measure is part of the Mayor's London Plan where at least 10 sq m of recreational space will need to be built for children into local development plans for housing schemes.

Mr Livingstone said: “I will use these standards to ensure that play and leisure facilities for children and young people are designed into all new housing developments referred to me and that play policies are included in local development plans.

"My ambition is to inspire and encourage more child friendly neighbourhoods right across the capital.”
