Local authorities are eager for Egan

Briefings :

Local authorities are huge construction clients, spending more than £5 billion a year. Now, thanks partly to the Local Government Task Force (LGTF), which is committed to improving the efficiency of local authority construction work, they are catching up on their private sector cousins in terms of innovation and performance. By reducing waste by a mere 1 per cent, local authorities could save the taxpayer some £50 million. If they exceeded the Egan target of 10 per cent, they could be saving close to £500 million.

This is something worth aiming for, so to give local authorities some practical help, the LGTF has produced a new toolkit: the Implementation Guide to Rethinking Construction.
