Local authorities in £75m JV

A trio of Welsh councils have teamed up and appointed consultant Capita Symmonds for the delivery of highways, transportation and associated environmental management.

Bridgend County Borough Council, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council and Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council instigated the joint venture, which is worth £75 million and will run for up to 15 years.

Strategic projects director of Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council Nigel Brinn said: “The introduction of a private sector partner will significantly enhance existing arrangements by providing additional flexibility and a much larger resource base.”

The final contract will be signed later this summer.
