London waits

HBG and Carillion are the remaining challengers for a delayed £25 million mixed development in south London. Developer Urban Catalyst is understood to have lined up the pair to bid for the Bermondsey Square scheme almost 18 months after they were shortlisted to bid for it along with Skanska and Wates. Finance and planning issues have held up the project to build homes, offices, shops and a market square. Work will now start on site later this year for completion in 2005.
