M4I plan to charge fees

RESEARCH body Movement for Innovation is understood to be considering charging contractors a maximum £1,500 to become members under a joint industry-government financing plan.

Last year, the government warned it would scrap M4I unless the industry met half the £1.3 million- a-year running cost.

Construction News understands the exact fee will be determined by the number of staff and a three- tiered structure of corporate, regional or individual membership.

The industry will have to find £650,000 if M4I is to continueits work promoting innovation through demonstration projects.
